An Augustinian abbey founded c.1158 by Diarmaid mac Murchad, king of Leinster (Laigin). It is located to the southeast of the much older monastery founded by Saint Aedan/Madog in the early 7th century on the site of the cathedral and graveyard. At the eastern end of the ruined structure is found a typical Irish round tower.
