Waterview Tower is a mixed used development under construction in downtown Chicago, Illinois. Scheduled for completion in 2009, it will be the fifth tallest building in Chicago and the third tallest residential building at 319 meters (1,047 feet and 1/2 inch) 90 stories tall.

Crain's Chicago Business reported that the Illinois Secretary of State is acting on a complaint submitted by UNITE/HERE Local 1 which alleges that the developer of Waterview Tower, Teng & Associates, may have violated securities laws by touting the investment potential of rooms.

The supertall tower is being built on Wacker Drive between LaSalle Street and Clark Street, where a parking lot had been for over 30 years.

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will make its debut in the United States occupying floors 12 through 27 of the building with 222 hotel condominium units. The remaining floors 30-88 will be 245 residential condominiums.

  • Construction ceased in mid-2008 because of difficulty the developer had in securing financing. At least one contractor has filed leans against the building which stands at 26-floors.
