Former space for Sherman's Book & Gift Store (until Fall 1931 [relocated to 223 S James St.]), clothing store Specialty Silk House (1932 [originally located at 225 S James St.]-c. late 1930's), utility company's office Michigan Public Service Co. ([temporary location] January 2, 1940 [originally located at 123 W Ludington Ave. {building damaged by explosion on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1939}]-April 12, 1940 [relocated back to its original location at the rebuilt and remodeled building at 123 W Ludington Ave. on April 15, 1940]), Wright('s) Furniture & Upholstery ([temporary location] September 1942-mid-December 1942 [originally located at 210 W Ludington Ave. but moved back to that location in mid-December 1942]), pharmacy Hansen's Drug Store (November 10, 1943 [originally located at the Hansen Building at 103 W Ludington Ave. {entire building destroyed by fire}]-c. 1944), clothing stores The Toggery (September 28, 1946 [originally located at 118 W Ludington Ave]-1981), Thompson's Toggery (1981-early 1990's), Seasons on the Shore (April 30, 1994-late 2008), and furniture stores Molly’s Affordable Furniture (January 26, 2009-c. 2012), and Molly's Furniture (c. 2012-2013); the rear end of the building space used to house Baker's Billard Parlor (until c. 1932) and Russell's Beauty Salon (November 6, 1933-c. late 1930's [relocated to 104 W Ludington Ave. {rear end of the building}]). The current space is now a consignment store, relocated from 102 W Ludington Ave. (which is three doors from here) to this location on July 28, 2014.

​The Cedar Chest Consignment Shoppe started in a little shop at 207 S James St. in downtown Ludington. We started off with 200 Consignors, a 1,500 sq. ft. building, and on April 15, 1997, we were in business. We were the only men's and women's consignment store within 60 miles. We grew in the number of consignors and space when we knocked down a wall and expanded in 1999 adding another 1,000 sq. ft. We began having growing pains, and in July 2009, we moved to the northwest corner of Ludington Ave. and James St. It was a building full of memories for the people of Ludington. Tobacco, Cigars & Fancy Goods, Snow's Drug Store, and Disbrow Drugs, Harbor Pharmacy, and Anna Bach Bakery were the five of the many businesses our customers would reminisce about with fondness. On July 28, 2014, we made our move to this building space of the Masonic Temple (first floor, left corner) at 110 W Ludington Ave., our present location. We have over 4,000 sq. ft. of space where we can showcase our beautiful wares. Our lower level boasts a large prom and bridal section along with all the menswear, maternity, scrubs, fitness fashion, and much more.

We offer quality, previously loved clothing and accessories for men, women, and juniors. We also offer home decor, books, and bedding. We have a fabulous array of wedding dresses and formals for any occasion.
