Lovely view from here too... not many tourists come down to this spot... but don't miss it... it's worth the downhill ride...Aguada jail, which until a few days ago served as largest prison in the state, is likely to be thrown open for tourists and the general public alike, soon. People will not only get to see the insides of the historic structure, but will also get a chance to know about Goa's liberation struggle, through a light and sound show.

The Goa tourism development corporation (GTDC) has moved a proposal Aguada fort was converted into a jail during the Portuguese rule and continued to be a prison for convicts in post-colonial Goa.

Cabral pointed out that in many other countries, old buildings that served as prisons are maintained as tourist attractions.

The 17th century Aguada fort served as a reference point for the vessels coming from Europe during the Portuguese era. A four-storey light house built on the fort in 1864 is said to be the oldest of its kind in Asia. The light house stopped functioning a few years ago.
