prehistoric, NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, interesting place, wedding / marriage venue, historic landmark, fish pond
On the National Register of Historic Places, this pond was used by the ancient Hawaiians to trap fish. At high tide, the fish could swim in, but then could not escape, thus offering a guaranteed source of subsistence for the surrounding villages. It was also the major site for shooting the first Karate Kid movie.
Today, the pond hosts a small wedding chapel that is fenced off from local use.
