Located within Marine Corps Base (MCB) Hawaii, formerly known as Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Kaneohe Bay.

Kanoehe Bay was one of the primary targets of the first wave of Japanese aircraft during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The IJN feared the U.S. patrol planes would be able to follow the attacking aircraft back to the Japanese fleet so they did a very through job of destroying aircraft on the ground.

After the attack, Kaneohe Bay was heavily fortified by anti-air and coast defense guns and served as the military nerve center for the north coast of Oahu.
