Areas of significance: Commerce; Transportation; Social History
Area: 5.5 acres
Also known as: Laws Natural
Date added to NRHP: 7/5/1984
Notes: This site consists of a naturally occurring basalt spring reservoir, as well as prehistoric Native American petroglyphs and fragments of Native American pottery. A section of the mid-19th century frontier wagon road known as the Beale Wagon Road is purported to have run east-west through the site about 300 feet south of the spring, though no physical evidence of this remains at the site. The basalt surrounding the spring bears historical carvings containing names and dates of explorers and frontiersmen who passed through the area in the 19th century.
