Daegeumgul, or Daegeum Cave, was not exposed until 2003 when an excavation project revealed the entrance, and after extensive preparation, opened to the public in 2007. This limestone cave has a considerable amount of water flowing through it, creating waterfalls, and numerous ponds.

Korea’s first cave monorail, a 610m/6,000ft long monorail takes you 140 meters deep into the cave. Only 40 people are allowed in at a time 18 times a day, and the entire tour takes about 90 minutes.

Daegeumgul takes its named from the Daegeum, a traditional Korean bamboo flute used in court, aristocratic, and folk music, as well as in contemporary classical music, popular music, and film scores.

Daegeumgul is National Mounument #178.
