The White Gate-Midia Navodari Channel is the northern branch of the Danube-Black Sea Canal.

Geographical location
The Poarta Alba-Midia Canal, Năvodari connects the aquarium of the Midia port and the port of Luminiţa in Lake Taşaul (Năvodari) with the Danube-Black Sea Canal in the Poarta Albă area. It was opened on 26 October 1987.

It has a length of 31.2 km and is located between Midia Port, km 0 of the canal, and the confluence with the Danube-Black Sea Canal at its 36 km, right next to Poarta Albă. At km 3 there is a bifurcation (5.5 km long) that connects to Luminiţa Port. Both Luminiţa and Ovidiu Harbor are an integral part of the canal.
Historic

Initially, the channel was begun by forced labor by political prisoners at Cape Midia, transformed in the second half of the 1960s into a "national yard of youth".

In November 1982, the technical documentation for the northern branch of the Danube-Black Sea Canal was restored in order to achieve the Poarta Albă-Midia Navodari Canal. The actual construction began in 1983 and was completed in October 1987.

projects
There is a project to make a lock between the White Gate Channel - Midia Năvodari and Siutghiol Lake. It is estimated that by constructing this lock in the Mamaia-sat area, the traffic of vessels specialized in the transportation of persons and recreation will increase by 30% - 50% per year.
