The Calexico Mexican American border job, much like the rest of the border, has been to keep the "illegals" out. Since the beginning of time, that has been the border's job. At first it started with the Chinese immigrants, then it became the Mexican immigrants. Taking away races and skin colors, the objective has always been to keep certain people out and keep others and their make sure they feel "safe" and "protected".
The Border is used every minutes of everyday so it is highly used by so many different people from so many different states. According to According to Fox News, “A million people cross the border legally every day." Whether they are a family coming back to the States from a vacation in San Felipe, whether it be a young lady that had a dentist appointment, whether they were teens partying the night before and are hurrying back home before their parents notice they were gone all night, or whether it's just friends that had a midnight craving for tacos, there is usually someone waiting in line at the Border.
Depending on who you are and what your views are, most likely your views on the border will fluctuate. To me, however, as much as the border does some good. I believe that it also does plenty bad. Not only recently but plenty of times before, the border has bought a lot of tension between the United States and Mexico. As neighboring countries, if we chose to do work together and let our walls down, no pun intended, then we can do so much more for not only one another but maybe even for the entire world. Most people see the border as a gift from God. They feel safer because a huge fence that is put up between us. When they really shouldn't. The people on the other side of that fence are no different than us. There is no reason to feel "safer" because of it. They aren't animals that deserve to be caged in. They are human beings, that work day to day just like you and me. Nothing more, nothing less.
