Original translation: Markt am Bohl

This was the former location for Theater at Bohl (Theater am Bohl) [St. Gallen's theater was previously held at a remise of the former monastery from 1801 to 1856, the name of the theater was Actien Theater Company {Theater-Actien-Gesellschaft}], it was constructed on the former monastery garden of St. Catherine's by architect Johann Christoph Kunkler and opened on November 5, 1857. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Don Giovanni" was the first opera performed in that theater. Theater at Bohl has gone through renovation, expansion, and modernation in 1906-1907, 1928-1929, and 1938. It remained operational until January 31, 1968. Carl Millöcker's "The Beggar Student (Der Bettelstudent)" was the last opera to perform in that theater on that day. The theater building was demolished on May 24, 1971. The vacant lot was used as a parking lot until around 1987. Then a pit was excavated, in which nothing was built and slowly filled with water. Finally in 1989, the Market at Bohl building was constructed and opened on November 7, 1991.

Today, Market at Bohl currently contains a fast food restaurant, a cafe, a bar, a mobile phone repair center, and a fitness center.
