C'était l'ancien emplacement pour Théâtre sur Bohl (Theater am Bohl) [le théâtre de Saint-Gall était précédemment tenu à la remise de l'ancien monastère de 1801 à 1856, le nom du théâtre était Théâtre Société Actien {Theater-Actien-Gesellschaft}], il a été construit sur l'ancien jardin du monastère de Sainte-Catherine par l'architecte Johann Christoph Kunkler et ouvert le 5 novembre 1857. Le «Don Giovanni» de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart a été le premier opéra joué dans ce théâtre. Théâtre sur Bohl a connu une rénovation, une expansion et une modernisation en 1906-1907, 1928-1929 et 1938. Il est resté opérationnel jusqu'au 31 janvier 1968. «L'Étudiant Pauvre (Der Bettelstudent)» de Carl Millöcker a éte le dernier opéra à jouer dans ce théâtre à ce sujet journée. Le bâtiment du théâtre a été démoli le 24 mai 1971. Le terrain vacant a été utilisé comme stationnement jusqu'à environ 1987. Ensuite, une fosse a été creusée, où rien n'a été construit et lentement rempli d'eau. Enfin, en 1989, le bâtiment Marché sur Bohl a été construit et ouvert le 7 novembre 1991.

Aujourd'hui, Marché sur Bohl contient actuellement un restaurant de restauration rapide, un café, un bar, un centre de réparation de téléphonie mobile et un centre de remise en forme.
