When the building opened in 1997, plans allowed for the addition of 24 more floors. In July 2006, Health Care Service Corp, the parent of BC/BS announced it was beginning construction of this addition. When completed in 2010, the building will have grown from its original height of 466 feet to approximately 743 feet and have 54 floors.
