  • The current Apartment blocks were constructed on the hallowed grounds of Abakash, built by Dr. G.C Pattanayak, FRCOG (Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom) in the 1930s. He retired as the first Director of Health Services to the State of Orissa. After an illustrious practice, Dr. Pattanayak devoted his remainder of his life to providing free medical aid to the poor and the needy, including his neighbours in the Laxmi Sagar refugee, newly displaced from the then East Pakistan (Bangladesh). He authored severely books and articles on facilitating the study of Sanskrit as well as a planned nutritious and affordable diet for the Indian masses. He was also an active member of the Vigyan Prachar Samiti. Abakash nutured some illustrious sons of the soil; Mr. K.C. Pattanayak, I.P.S; Former Director General & Inspector General of Police, Orissa. Colonel B. Pattanayak of EME.
