Designed c. 1926 by Schwartz & Gross as The Surrey, a residential hotel. After Denihan Hospitality Group declared bankruptcy in 2020, the hotel was purchased by the Reuben Brothers in collaboration with Corinthia Hotels. The interiors were redecorated in 2021 by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio.

The interior and exterior was used as a filming location for S1E3 of the HBO series "Succession" when Shiv has a meeting in one of the hotel rooms. The exterior entryway is shown.
