The ancient and medieval city of Taliqan (also Taleqan), a Syriac bishopric and a frontier town of the Sasanid Empire in the Fifth Century, was probably located in the region of Chaychaktu, where there are "ruins and mounds of brick" (Le Strange, The Lands of the Eastern Caliphate, New York 1905: 423).
