In Nosotros Park many people from the Valley have shared parts of their lives, including my own. It is a great place to go and talk to people in the community. I remember I was playing a baseball game and the whole baseball field was full of family and friends, it felt like I was playing game 7 of the World Series the greatest feeling of the world. Even now I might go out to the park to see a game, it is just a perfect place to be.
Nosotros Park includes basketball courts, Walk/Run trails, playground equipment, a skateboard area, and a Little League Field. The skateboard area has half-pipes, quarter-pipes, and rails to grind on. The walk/run paths are great places to have a nice stroll jog outside preferably during the night because it is always scorching during the day. The park is taken care of the by the community who strive to keep the park clean and safe. This is one of the few Little league Fields in Calexico with a dirt infield and the out field cover with grass.
The city of Calexico held an unveiling of the mural and introduced the artists who work on it diligently, Aaron Eduardo Kintero, Pablo Castaneda, and Eduardo Kintero (Calexico Arts Commission 2015). “These murals represent Calexico and the artistic disciplines this city has. It consists of images past and present,” Eduardo Kintero stated. “I love to skateboard, and what better representation than a skater on a skateboard, painting” stated Aaron Kintero on how he designed the third wall mural. Nosotros Little League Field is versatile it is a beautiful park and great for the community, unites and gives people something to do. That is not the only mural at the park there are another four and all are painted on the restrooms that are located at the entrance. Once you arrive at Nosotros Park you can see the beautiful painting on the side of the restrooms.
The meaning behind monuments and their symbolic nature can change over time however, depending on who is viewing them or the effects of current events they can sprout from the littlest thing. Nosotros Little League field is the definition of a monument because it unites the community, it shows that the Valley is very close knit. This park is used frequently by the people of the Valley. The little league field bring people from all over the Valley to come visit and brings excitement it also keeps kids out of trouble. It shows the love, pride and history that the Valley is all about.
