Dated to the Ordovician some 450 million years ago.
The rock layers were upturned leaving a core of older Cambrian rock in the central area. The very rare mineral, Reidite, a densified form of Zirconium Oxide, formed under extreme pressure, has been found here recently. Reidite has been found at only 4 locations on Earth, all at impact craters.
