Drumheller Fountain (Seattle, Washington)

USA / Washington / Seattle / Seattle, Washington
 water, fountain

Also known as "Frosh pond", often dirty and rarely cleaned. This is THE place to find ducks. In the winter, when the pond is frozen, the ducks walk on top of the ice.

Has been the site of student pranks such as the addition of bright green liquid soap (messy!).

  • Originally, the pond extended under the cement walkway that surrounds it. Rumors exist that this was to aid in the cooling of a nuclear reactor nearby, but these have not been verified. In 2007, to cure the repetitive leaks that plagued the fountain, the area underneath the cement walkway was filled with concrete. (It's a space about 10 feet in width surrounding the fountain, and about 15-25 feet deep.)
