Two 6" disappearing carriage guns were mounted here from 1901 to 1944.

Battery Bradford was named on March 13, 1902 in honor of Captain James Bradford, U.S. Artillery, who was killed on November 4, 1791, in action with hostile Indians at Fort Recovery, Ohio.
