The former site of the American Meteorite Museum (also known as the Meteor Crater Museum or Meteor Crater Observatory) which was constructed in the 1930s along U.S. Route 66 when the Barringer Crater was not open to the public by Harvey Harlow Nininger. For a fee people could observe the crater through a telescope in the tower.
