Behran Plateau

This is the mighty Behran Plateau.This plateau carries three Railway Lines-the Down Line,Bi-Directional Mid Line and UP Line between Mumbai and Pune. The Up Line who's markings can see on the Extreme left within the markings of Behran Plateau is the the New Line that has much gentler slope than Down and Mid Lines.The famous Viaduct NO.6 (Old Number 3) who's Top View can be viewed in shape of Letter 'D' is on this Up Line and located on this Plateau.The famous Zenith Falls are a result of water flowing from the Top of Behran Plateau down towards Khopoli Valley.The famous 'Nath Cha Dongar" in which the Gambirnath Caves are situated is located adjacent to this Plateau.There is a place called as Monkey Hill Catch Siding which is in used in very rare cases of Runaway Trains for arresting their speeds ,is also located on Behran Plateau.You can have a glimpse of famous Duke's Nose located in Khandala from two points on Plateau- 1)Monkey Hill Catch Siding 2) Viaduct No.6 .There is a tree on this plateau which divides the Districts of Raigad and Pune .Two Viaducts,one between Tunnel No.s 43 and (44/46) and other to rear and front of Tunnel No. 39 (this one is walled in) both on the Down and MID LInes have been constructed the strong rock foundation of Behran Plateau.The one between Tunnel No.s 43 and (44/46) have stone ladders leading down towards Ulhas River Valley.Rajmachi Fort and Kune Village are located to the right of Behran Plateau across the valley.The back side of the Plateau can be viewed from 150+ years old Viaduct No.1 on Up LIne and from Jambrung.
