One of the largest medieval castles in Thessaly, Damasion Castle is poorly preserved. Nevertheless, its several fortified perimeters and a number of towers can be traced along the top of the hill overlooking modern Damassion (Damasi) to its southeast. The castle may have replaced the ancient acropolis of the town of Orthe, located to the northwest.
