The Ferndale Public Library was constructed in 1910 and opened on 02 April of that year. The building was extended in the rear in 1977 to accommodate a children's room. It is one of a handful of California cities with a population under 1,000 that obtained its own Carnegie Library. The Library is still in use to this day.
