Completed in 2015, the University of Waterloo Science building is a modern, 132,000 sq. ft. facility. Phase One of this project consists of a five storey building addition to the existing three storey Biology building. The Science Teaching Complex includes a suite of lecture rooms, including a 425-seat amphitheatre, the largest on campus, a 300-seat lecture hall, as well as three additional 150-seat teaching rooms. First-year teaching laboratories, student lounges, meeting rooms and a student café are also included in the building.
The Chemistry Lab is located on the fifth floor as well as service rooms. The existing Biology Building has connection points through the basement level and a new main entrance provided on the West face of the addition. This new Science Learning Centre aids in attracting the best and brightest students to the faculty. This facility is designed to LEED Silver standards.
