Nirmalapuram stands for purity. It is about 50 KM South-east of Kotayam. The area of the place is less than 5 Sq.K.M. The total population is less than 100 familes. Most of the people are farmars and at least one member of each family is working abroad.The higest hill in the area belongs to Nirmalapuram. The hill is called Karuvallikkadu Mala. On the top of the hill St.Mary's Catholic church has a shrine called St.Thomas Shrine. On Good Fridays People from the surrounding villages go to the shrine in procession praying the way of the cross of Jesus Christ.
