This Underground station is in central Finchley on the Northern Line to Barnet. It was built before the Underground and originally the main line ran towards Mill Hill and onwards to Edgware. These days the line only goes as far as Mill Hill East, and the main line now takes the curved course to Barnet which was originally a branch. Trains on the short shuttle to Mill Hill East start here; there are some peak time through trains.
