Built in 1954, Mrs. David Hirsch commissioned Bernard Friedman to design this building as a free standing shop. Though now surrounded by other buildings, it is still owned and operated by the Hirsch Family. As an ideal example of an open open front facade, the interior and exterior zones are integrated. Angled walls create a dynamic entrance with a sloping exposed frame canopy flanked on either side by cantilevered display cases and a planter. Large neon letterforms are mounted on top of the canopy.
