  Most likely Tucson's largest waste of public resource. A several hundred acre parcel of public land that is fenced to exclude the public can no longer be ignored. Golf's well documented decline for the past decade (2000+) places it on the list of soon to die sports with demographics showing an aging following. For comparison, tennis will soon surpass golf as a participation sport and requires a small fraction of the real estate for participants. Tucson will soon realize this parcel should be converted to a public park with leased commercial "park-style" restaurants, entertainment venues, bike and skate rentals and a skateboard course as well as walking and sitting areas for all the residents of Tucson. It can pay for itself in many ways that will also enhance public enjoyment of this current forbidden zone.
