This is the main vertical shaft and hoist room for the Kibali gold mine. The shaft is 751m deep and 8m in diameter, concrete lined, and a dry tonnes capacity of 3.43 Mt/yr. The main contractor for the sinking was Shaft Sinkers and shaft bottom was reached on July 22, 2015. The main purpose for the shaft is hoisting of ore but it will have a service cage for maintenance.
