Public library housed in a home built in 1909. Originally owned by Frank Cardwell, it was later purchased by Mary Denny Ashby, niece of Seattle pioneers David and Arthur Denny, and her husband John. Upon Mary's death in 1923, she left the house to her sister with the provision that it later be given to the City of Pomeroy in order to form a public library. The city acquired the building in 1925, and the library opened its doors on June 1st, 1928.
