Make sure you visit the biggest country church in Southern Estonia, Kambja Church (1330), when you find yourself in the Kambja area. The pseudo-gothic church has repeatedly suffered damages in wars. Today, its good acoustics and almost 600 seats make it a great venue for concerts or wedding ceremonies. The tower of Kambja Church was designed by architect Arnold Matteus and the organ with 12 registers, which is gift from the Träslövsläge Congregation in Sweden, has been filling the church with its beautiful sound since 2003.
The Crown Price of Sweden Gustav Adolf visited Kambja in 1932. The Prince planted an oak in the church garden, which still grows next to the gate.
