archaeological site, Medieval / Middle Ages

An ancient or medieval archaeological site, located roughly 10 km southeast and across the river from the archaeological site of Jankala. It has been suggested that Kumkala possibly corresponds to pre-Mongol Jand, because Jankala (usually identified as the site of Jand) does not feature remains dating prior to the 14th century). Kumkala remains to be investigated in detail.
