William and David Horsley moved west from Bayonne, NJ to found Hollywood's very first movie studio on the northwest corner of Sunset and Gower. Called Nestor studios and partnered with the Chistie Brothers, they sold to the Chriusties and went on to accomplish a lot in early Hollywood history, including being founding partners in Universal Studios.
On the way there, William Horsley started a small film lab and movie studio on the two lots at the corner of Sunset and Beachwood.
Later sold to Hollywood Film Enterprises.
