Albany Wind Farm stretches for 5 km above the shoreline about 10 km WSW of downtown Albany, at the southern 'tip' of Western Australia (380 km SSE of Perth). Commissioning has taken place in two stages: 12 Enercon E66/1800 (power 1 800 kW, diameter 66 m) wind turbines in 2001 and an additional 6 Enercon E70/2300 (power 2 300 kW, diameter 70 m) turbines in 2011 (to the west of the original 12). The combined nominal generating capacity of the 18 turbines is 35.4 MW.
The 6 turbine extension is sometimes called the Grasmere wind farm.
