A city in the Odesa Raion (district) in Odesa Oblast (region) of Ukraine, dependents on the Port of Chornomorsk.
It hosts the administration of Chornomorsk City Hromada (community).
It is known since 18th century as a satellite town of Odesa.
Population: 57,983 (2022).
Before the construction of the port there was a village Buhovi Khutory (Бугові Хутори), that in 1927 was renamed into Illichivske, in 1952 – into Illichivsk.
On 12 November 2015, the City Council decided to rename the city to Chornomorsk, the decision was confirmed by the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian parliament) on 4 February 2016.
It hosts the administration of Chornomorsk City Hromada (community).
