Swiss Maid Fudge is a 2nd generation old fashioned candy store that first opened its doors in 1962SC. In the beginning we wanted to share what we felt was a deliciously creamy and flavorful fudge recipe with our customers. Since that time we have expanded our line of handmade candy to include Hand-Dipped Chocolates, Salt Water Taffy, Caramel Apples, Caramel Corn, Brittles and Crunches along with our Buttery Homemade Caramel.

Only natural ingredients go into our handmade candy confections - 100% Wisconsin Sweet Cream Butter, Heavy Cream, and Pure Chocolate and Vanilla. Our fudge and other handmade candies contain no artificial preservatives because we strive to bring you the purest candy possible. We ship everything directly to you immediately after it is made to guarantee you what we call "natural freshness."

All of our candy is made the old European way using copper kettles and cooked over open gas fired cast iron stoves. You can see our candy crafters at work in our open view kitchen. The founder of Swiss Maid Fudge was Charlie Van Wie, a friend of Arnold Borcher who founded Wisconsin Dairyland Fudge in 1962SC (same year as this shop opened), which is about a block from here. Swiss Maid Fudge started at the small building along Superior Street. Remodeling began in 1967SC when windows and secondary entrance were added on the Broadway side. Then in 1990, the store was enlarged into the space next door and remodeled once again by repainting the interiors and modernizing the features. The hanging Tiffany lights and arches along the walls are still there since the opening. Finally in 1997PB, Van Wie's daughter Jane Heller, who has been involved with the company since she was 14, bought the store and continues the old-world way of making fudge. She is also the president of this company (also the owner of Wisconsin Dairyland Fudge and Monk's Bar & Grill). Today, Swiss Maid Fudge has become the most visited fudge shop in Wisconsin Dells and it has been featured in many news outlets including the Rachael Ray show and CakeSpy.com.
