church, 1830s construction, Armenian Apostolic church
An Armenian church dedicated to Saint Nicholas, just inside the Theodosian Walls of Constantinople. The present building dates to 1831, but is built atop an older structure from the Macedonian Dynasty (867-1059), which was dedicated to Saint Romanos and gave its name to the nearby gate.
