City's biggest upcoming shopping complex-cum-multiplex hall — Buty Mall (Glocal Square) at Sitabuldi — has encountered a major hurdle. In its submission to the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has observed that four internal criss-cross roads, which are not part of the developer's project plan, are very important for beautification and decongestion of Sitabuldi. Besides, the civic agency has endorsed various claims by the shopkeepers. The HC has fixed the next hearing on October 21.
The Abhyankar Road Widening and Buty Mahal Street Scheme was planned by NIT and is being executed by Pune-based developer Goel Ganga Infrastructure and Real Estate Private Ltd. Total 148 shopkeepers, who are operating or used to function on Abhyankar road between Variety Square and Munje Square and on the right side of Sitabuldi main market road between Variety Square and Modi no. 1 lane, are supposed to be rehabilitated in the project under lot of conditions. Some disputes arose between 18 shopkeepers and developer following which the former filed petition in the High Court which directed the NIT to settle the case.
