Garlic Trade and is the major activity here,many Merchants supplying garlic for the whole India from here.For the whole Tamilnadu only 2 places for Garlic Trade.One is Mettupalayam near Ooty and the other is Vadugapatti near Kodaikanal. The climate is very pleasent and it's in the banks of VaragaNadhi river.It's the home town of famous poet Vairamuthu.Bagavathi Amman Temple located here is known in this District.
