Rigshospitalet plays a prominent role within danish heathcare, being the first public hospital i Denmark - and biggest. Today a modern hospital in the field of highly specialized diagnostic, treatment and care, and with national leadership in a number of research and development areas. A prominent member of the Copenhagen University Hospital System.

Consequently, Rigshospitalet’s patients benefit from the most advanced research findings and technology, and the continuing improvement of treatment with the advance of medical and health care science.. Rigshospitalet has twice bee accreditet by Joint Commission International (2002 and 2005).

With approxemately 1.200 beds, 70.000 inpatients and 400.000 ambulant visits annually. In addition to its 8.000 personnel (representing 7.000 full-time equivalents). Moreover, Rigshospitalet is one of Denmark’s largest training centers within the field of the health care. The hospital trains, hosts and has the in-service advantages of students of medicine and other health care sciences as well as scientists working within Rigshospitalet under a variety of research grants.
