Area of woodland which has watercourses and sills as channels of the artificial (dug-out) Longford River which was converted in Bushy Park into more channels under the Georgian monarch who expanded the park's features. Today one of the Royal Parks of London, Bushy Park enjoys the maximal falls in the river which was cleverly engineered to introduce water on a gradual slope from Longford, part of Harmondsworth and Colnbrook historiclly which is about 10 miles to the north-west. The park ranges in elevation to this extent as it is on the final long loop of the Thames and so is on very subtle higher terraces to the north and lower terraces to the south, enabling a perpendicular canal to feature several small falls.
