The marks visible in the satellite image are likely left by a recently fun fair. On most bank holidays and frequently during school holidays etc, a fun fair will be held on the green.

During the Hampton Court flower show, a temporary pedestrian bridge is run from the South-East corner of the green to the other side of Hampton Court Road, allowing people to cross into Hampton Court Palace without disrupting traffic.
