The River of Life is an award-winning project that is transforming 2.5km of riverbank along the Thames, restoring wetland features and wildlife habitats that were more typically seen centuries ago. It is a wild stretch of the iconic River Thames which will help save threatened wetland wildlife, improve water quality, and change the relationship that society has with its wetlands and wildlife, now and for future generations. It will be one of the few places on the Thames, and the UK's navigable rivers, where the bankside habitat and river topography are as near to 'natural' as possible.

It consists of ponds, backwaters, reedbeds, wet woodland, species rich grassland and wildflower meadows. Grassland areas here are additionally utilised for grazing by Earth Trust's Farm Step initiative tenants.
