Gurandi is the village from which many people participated in India's Independent strugle. Bhagaban Jena, Dr. Lingaraj Jena, Sri Bijoy Kumar Jena, Former Member of Odisha Legislative Assemble, Prof Bamadeva Majhi, Dr. Dinu Majhi, Er( Mrs) Manjula Jena, Prof. Somesh Jena, Dr. Lingaraj Jena, Dr. Sagar Dalai, Dr. Santosh Jena and may others. It has a college nemed as Meenaketan College, Gurandi and SKCG High School, Gurandi, Also this village has both the Primary and Veterinary Health Centres. The famous cinema hall of the area, Prativa Talkies is located in this village which is lying idle due to a long legal battle. This village is also having the offices of State Bank of India,Odisha Gramya Bank and a Post Office too. Good bus connection is available from this village to Paralakhemundi and Berhampur. The nearest railway station is Palasa under East Coast Railway.
