Located in historic downtown Tehachapi, is an Authentic German bakery, cafe, and grocery, designed with Old World Charm. Opened on April 12, 2004PB by Thomas Kohnen, a (West) German born baker and his wife Colleen. The baker Thomas Kohnen makes every batch from scratch – including some 20 varieties of artisan breads dense with whole grains, full flavors, and crisp crusts. The examples of his recipes are crusty rye, basil-barley garden, six-grain, sun dried tomato, delicate cinnamon raisin, and even pizza bread, not to mention pretzels, boiled-then-baked bagels, and Brötchen – traditional, crusty German breakfast rolls. They also have desserts like cinnamon crisps, apricot-walnut kolaches, espresso chocolate chip cookies, and even German beer.
