Oregon State University traces its origins to 1856 when Corvallis Academy was founded. In 1858, the school's name was changed to Corvallis College. In 1890 the college became known as Oregon Agricultural College. 1927 marked another name change to Oregon State Agricultural College. Finally, the name changed again to Oregon State University on March 6, 1961

Oregon State University is Oregon's only land grant, sea grant, sun grant, and space grant university, with over 20,000 students(As of 2008) from all 50 states and more than 90 countries.
