Michigan Liquor Control Commission Warehouse

The Michigan Liquor Control Commission was established in 1933, shortly after the end of Prohibition, to control the distribution of liquor in Michigan. In doing so it set up a series of warehouses and mini-warehouses, where liquor was received from manufacturers and then distributed to retailers.

The 250,560 sq. ft., Lincoln Park warehouse was constructed in 1954 on a 14 acre site. The warehouse serviced Area 1 which included Detroit, Flint, Port Huron and Ann Arbor as well as Monroe County and the Thumb. In 1996, the state privatized the liquor distribution system and the facility was declared surplus.

The property was sold in 2000 and is now used as a warehouse for K&M Tire.
