A newspaper article from 1949 talks a little about the history of the Bayles School, which was a one-room school located here. An online genealogical web reference states that the old school building was being used as a private residence, but there isn't any readily available information to back that up. A Historic Aerials topo map from 1955 shows a "Bayles School (abandoned)" located here. A quick Google search shows a school listing from 1917 mentions this school as located at "R3, Michigan City."
