  • Number 12 in my list of counties to be traced out. Anybody living in these counties that wishes to put in information about them is more than welcome to. I only know more about Southwestern Indiana than the rest of the state, so I am only limited to what information I do know about them.
  • La Porte County has one of the world's finest and largest collections of ancient firearms. The collection was donated to the La Porte, Indiana Historical Society Museum at the direction of the owner upon his passing in 1921. William A. Jones, an industrialist foundry man from Chicago, spent a good deal of his time and treasure traveling to distant lands in search of these ancient and antique weapons. The collection is featured in Dan Shideler's 2007 Standard Catalog of Firearms - 17th edition with 16 pages of very well done photos and descriptions.
